We’re all hired to do a job. We have job descriptions with responsibilities and accountabilities, but living our organizational values isn’t about just doing our jobs. It’s about how we do them.
Our organizational values help us Set the PACE for what we do and inspire us to Keep the PACE together.
Fort McKay First Nation Chief and Council would like to congratulate Robert Ahyasou, Custodian Capital Projects, on being honoured with a PACE Award for his work as part of the FMFN team.
The PACE Awards are a quarterly recognition program for FMFN employees who demonstrate that they are living the organizational values of People, Accountability, Culture, and Equity. Robert was the winner of the April Award.
Robert is a member of Fort McKay First Nation and has worked for FMFN for 4 years. He is well-known for his commitment for doing the best possible job and for never taking any shortcuts. He is always prompt and punctual and makes sure his work is done on time.
His dedication was on display at the recent PACE Awards luncheon. He was asked to be sure to attend but wasn’t told why because his win was to be a surprise. So Robert came to the lunch, sat down and had a nice meal, and then left before the prize announcements because he wanted to get back to work!
Everyone who has met Robert – and if you live or work in Fort McKay you will eventually meet him – says the same wonderful things about him. He is always smiling, cheerful, polite, hard-working, and friendly. He received multiple nominations from his fellow staff members for the award. He was recognized for being considerate of the work other people were doing while he is performing his role and makes every effort to accommodate the needs of others around him.
“That’s Robert,” said his supervisor, Richard Desjarlais. “He is such a considerate hard-working man, and so courteous to everyone. The nature of being a custodian means he can be in other people’s space, and Robert is so careful and polite.”
“Robert is also so safety-conscious,” added Richard “He is always very careful to warn of the potential for tripping wherever he is working. He wants to make sure everyone in the workplace is safe.”
As one of his nominators for the prize said, “Robert makes the workplace a happy place.”
Congratulations Robert!
Fort McKay First Nation Chief and Council would like to congratulate Lance Lafontaine, Supervisor Capital Projects, on being honoured with a PACE Award for his work as part of the FMFN team.
The PACE Awards are a quarterly recognition program for FMFN employees who demonstrate that they are living the organizational values of People, Accountability, Culture, and Equity. Lance was the winner of the June Award.
Lance is a member of Fort McMurray 468 First Nation and has worked for FMFN for 14 years. His family is of prime importance to him, and April, Hunter, and Sydney are the collective lights of his life. Judging from the way his colleagues talk about him, one might be forgiven for thinking he has a work family as well.
Lance’s fellow workers recognize him as someone who always goes the extra mile. They speak of his attention to detail, his support for other staff, his wish to help them succeed, and the proactive way he goes above and beyond. They are all words that describe a good leader, a good family man and a good guy. Or as his nominator wrote, “You can always count on him.”
“Lance is a talented worker who will turn his hand to anything and works well with the rest of the team,” said Chris Johnson, FMFN’s CEO. “I’m not surprised a co-worker nominated him for a PACE Award as he embodies all that we as an organization value in our work teams. Congratulations Lance!”
Congratulations on your much-deserved PACE Award!
