Advanced Business Profits Distribution:

 

An advanced Distribution of Business Profits in the amount of $500.00 will be paid to the Members of the Fort McKay First Nation on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 1:00pm at the Father Begin Hall, Dorothy McDonald Business Centre

 

Community update:

 The services in the community are operational such as water, power and security. The Dorothy McDonald Business Centre is open and operating at minimum capacity.

The Fort McKay School will open Tuesday, May 24, 2016.

The Fort Daycare will open Thursday, May 19, 2016.

Medical services, in the form of Nurse Practitioners, will be available starting Thursday, May 19, 2019.

 Fire update:

 As of 8am this morning, Thursday, May 12, air quality in the community remains as low health risk (2).  It is estimated that this low health risk condition will remain the same all day today, tonight and tomorrow.

Highway 63 through Fort McMurray for Fort McKay residents and essential FMFN staff ONLY.

Evacuees wishing to return to Fort McKay will be permitted to travel through Fort McMurray providing they:

  • Have adequate gas in their vehicle (there is limited gas in Fort McKay).
  • Have groceries and adequate supplies.
  • You will be stopped at the RCMP checkpoint at the South of the city limits. You must identify yourself as a resident of Fort McKay.
  • You will be stopped at the RCMP checkpoint at the North of the city limits. You must identify yourself as a resident of Fort McKay.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE FORT MCKAY RESIDENTS PERMITTED TO STOP IN FORT MCMURRAY. TRESSPASSERS CAN BE ARRESTED.

Evacuees wishing to remain at their current location outside of the community, FMFN will continue to cover food and accommodation costs. Anyone staying at a hotel under a Fort McKay First Nation credit card will have their rooms automatically extended until the morning of Thursday, May 19th. ALL ARRANGEMENTS MUST BE MADE BY FRIDAY AT NOON AS OUR EDMONTON OFFICE IS CLOSED SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.
