Social Development

Social Development supports eligible community members with short-term and temporary financial needs while there are in between challenging life situations with the goal to improve the quality of life for the recipients.

  • Support to seek employment
  • Support for social issues through referrals with other internal agencies
  • Financial support for basic living
  • Rent supplement
  • Child care supplement
  • Training and work boots for clients to obtain employment

To be eligible to apply for Social Assistance each applicant is assessed according to the policy as prescribed by Indigenous Services Canada. The following documents are required when applying for social assistance:

  • Government ID for all on application
  • Proof of residency. (current lease or tenant letter from FM Housing)
  • Social Insurance Number
  • Current monthly bank statements
  • Social Policy Medical Form if needed

All clients are required to be assessed through the case management process to determine eligibility Social assistance. Case management will work closely with you for guidance in options for education, training, seeking employment and social issues.
